Efterpi Mitsi is a Professor in English Literature and Culture at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is a graduate of the Department of English Literature and Culture, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from New York University. Her research on British travellers to Greece and on classical presences and echoes in English literature has been published in journals and edited volumes; she has also published the volumes Women Writing Greece: Essays in Hellenism, Orientalism and Travel (2008), In the Country of the Moon: British Women Travellers to Greece 1718-1932 ( 2005), The Letter of the Law: Literature, Justice and the Other (2013) The Periphery Viewing the Word (2004), a Glossary of Feminist Theory (2009), etc. Her recent published research includes a monograph entitled Greece in Early English Travel Writing, 1596-1682 (New Transculturalisms Series, Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), the volume Troilus and Cressida, a Critical Reader (Renaissance Drama Series, 2019), co-editing  the special issues of EJES "Narratives of Religious Conversion from the Enlightenment to the Present" (with L. Kostova, 2019) and Ruins in the Anglo-American Literary and Cultural Imagination (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019). She is currently the P.I. of a research project entitled “Representations of Modern Greece in Modern Victorian Culture” (REVICTO) and a research team member in another project, "Hotels and the Modern Subject: 1890-1940" (HOTEMS), both funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (HFRI-ΕΛΙΔΕΚ, 2019-2022).
