19th- and 20th- century Anglophone Literature and Culture
The MA programme "Nineteenth- and Twentieth- century Anglophone Literature and Culture" comprises multidisciplinary approaches to works of literature written in English, informed by modern philosophies and theories, as well as the cultural contexts of 19th- and 20th- century anglophone peoples. The programme aims in fostering a deeply knowledgeable, critical engagement with matters pertaining to the anglophone literary production of choice works, both within the particular cultural contexts of production of these works, and within the wider context of globalization. The programme consists of six taught courses and a final semester of writing an MA thesis under the supervision of a Faculty member.
In particular, the 2021-2023 programme cycle has as its thematic focus the "Narratives of Marginality and Exclusion", seeking to investigate phenomena of social marginalization and erasure as these are recorded, and commented on, in a wide gamut of works of anglophone literature and cultural practices.
