Over the last twenty years, by proposal of our Faculty, our institution has honoured the following distinguished members of the international scholarly community, bestowing upon them doctorate degrees honoris causa in recognition of their contribution to: English literary or language studies, the creative arts, the promotion of Greek language and culture, the development of our Faculty and of English Studies in Greece.

Keeley, Professor Emeritus, English and Greek Studies scholar, founder of the Greek Studies Programme at Princeton, distinguished translator of Cavafy, Seferis, Elytis and other significant Greek poets into English, formerly served as Fulbright visiting scholar at the Faculty. 1993 Andrew Rutherford, Distinguished English Studies scholar and Byronist Professor Emeritus at the University of London, England
1988 Robert Lidell, British novelist, critic and translator of Greek literary works as well as Visiting Professor at the Faculty for ten years  -
1987 William Spanos, Professor of English and Comparative Literature. Distinguished scholar in literary theory and global studies, formerly served as Fulbright visiting scholar at the Faculty The State University of New York at Binghamton, U.S.A.
